Dr. Rammanohar Lohia Avadh University started Physical Education Department in 2005. This has reference to the Physical fitness and healthy wellness for an individual, who is a part of a healthy society, thus a healthy Nation, living in blissful happiness. The values are inculcated in an individual to achieve a level of physical wellbeing and fitness for eternal happiness. The importance of Health studies in the fore-front and basic to all human beings. The modern developments in the field of Physical Education & Sports Sciences has given immense significance to course of studies like Sports Management, Sports Training, Sports BioMechanics, Sports Nutrition, Yogic Sciences, Health & fitness, Event management for the healthy people of society.

Physical Education Department changed its nature to Institute of Physical Education and Sports Sciences in year 2019 by former Vice Chancellor Prof. Manoj Dixit.In the year 2020, the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Ravi Shankar Singh, in view of the importance of sports and yoga, took a spectacular and incomparable step of merging the Yoga Department into the Institute of Physical Education. After this decision came into effect, the name of the Institute was changed to the Institute of Physical Education, Sports and Yogic Sciences. M.P.Ed. (Master of Physical Education: Two-year degree course - Four Semesters) Applicant must hold B.P.Ed. Degree with at least 50% marks or a bachelor's degree or its equivalent degree recognized by the (UGC/NCTE). They should have required standard in at least one major game or sport. Candidates with achievements in Sports and Games and professional training will be preferred. Admission is subject to eligibility rules of the Uttar Pradesh Government and UGC/NCTE.

B.P.Ed. (Bachelor of Physical Education:Two-year degree course - Four Semesters) Applicant should have passed BPES or BPE (3 year), B.A., or B.Sc., or B.Com., or any other equivalent degree recognized by the UGC/NCTE. Students who have obtained degree through Open University system are not eligible. Graduates from other than are eligible for admission only if their degrees are accepted by the Candidates who have obtained their degrees by private study must have their degree approved by the prior before submission of applications to the Institute. Applicant should have participated in at least intercollegiate tournament in any sport / game.

B.P.E.S (Bachelor in Physical Education and Sports - Three Year Degree Course) Applicants should have passed 10+2 exam of the Government of Uttar Pradesh or any other equivalent examination, recognized by the other State of India. Age: The age limit for admission to the BPES degree course will be 21 (Twenty-one) as on IstJuly of every year. For deserving candidates, the admission committee may decide on the relaxation of age limit.

Educational Qualifications: Candidates should have scored marks not below 45%.

Achievements

The students of the institute got selected in different government jobs like University, Higher Education, TGT, PGT, UPSSB, KV, NVS, DSSB, Railway,Basic Education and in different Private center in India and Abroad. Many students of Institute cleared NET Exam and the doing research in Higher Education institution. The program besides covering various aspects of Physical Education lays an equal emphasis on Physical and moral developments of the students. In the campus 400 mtr. Standard running track, Football, Hockey, Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Handball, Basketball, Volleyball, Netball, Climbing Wall, Gymnasium Hall, Boxing, Table tennis, Shooting, Archery, Cricket and many more facilities with ground and infrastructure are available.

One Day National Conference on Topic “Anti- Doping in Sports”

The department of Physical Education and Sports has organized a one-day National Conference on topic “Anti- Doping in Sports” in year 2019 under the aegis National Anti Doping Agency (NADA). The Chief Guest of the inaugural session was Rachna Govil, Executive Director and session was chaired by Prof. Manoj Dixit, former Vice- Chancellor, Dr. Rammanohar Lohia Avadh University, Ayodhya (U.P.).

Two Days National Seminar on topic “Effect of Covid-19 on Sports and Physical Activities”

The department of Physical Education and Sports has very recently organized a twoday online National Seminar on topic “Effect of Covid-19 on Sports and Physical Activities” in between 7-8 Feb. 2021. Six eminent speakers delivered their thoughtful and state of art lecturers related to the theme. The Chief Guest of the inaugural session was Prof. K.D. Mishra, ViceChancellor, Rani Durgavati University Jabalpur (M.P.).
